Role description
Data Analyst (Contract) Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft. Summary This is a dynamic and impactful opportunity within a Corporate Accounting organization, where the selected candidate will play a critical role in supporting the monthly general ledger close and consolidation process. The position blends hands-on accounting execution with systems enablement work, offering a unique balance of operational accounting responsibilities and technology-focused activities. During the monthly close cycle, the individual will focus on intercompany accounting activities, transaction validation, reconciliations, and variance analysis, all within a deadline-driven environment. Outside of the close window, the role shifts toward general ledger maintenance, data governance, and User Acceptance Testing in support of a major finance systems implementation. This position is well-suited for a detail-oriented accounting professional who is equally comfortable working within structured accounting processes and contributing to systems testing and process improvement initiatives. Job Responsibilities • Review and validate intercompany transactions and balances during the monthly close cycle • Investigate and help resolve intercompany differences, partnering with accounting teams to address timing or posting issues • Assist with reconciliations, variance analysis, and close documentation to ensure accurate and timely deliverables • Support general ledger master data maintenance and data governance activities outside of the close window • Perform data quality reviews that impact financial reporting, including chart of accounts changes and mapping updates • Execute UAT test scripts for accounting and finance systems, validating accounting results and comparing outcomes between source systems and downstream reports • Document testing issues and defects, partnering with engineering and IT teams to triage and support fix validation • Support test readiness activities including access validation, scenario setup, and maintenance of testing documentation • Refresh and maintain Power BI reporting in support of close-related and governance activities • Collaborate with accounting partners, systems teams, and program stakeholders across both close and non-close periods • Manage a mix of structured tasks and ad-hoc problem solving to ensure accounting processes run smoothly and system changes are thoroughly validated before go-live Requirements • 5 or more years of experience in accounting close execution, including the ability to validate accounting outcomes across systems, compare results, and assess financial impact • 3 to 5 or more years of hands-on experience with SAP finance or accounting systems, including documenting test evidence, logging defects, and partnering with Finance and Engineering or IT teams through triage and fix validation • 2 to 4 or more years of experience executing UAT test cases for accounting or finance systems • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required • Strong accounting fundamentals with a solid understanding of general ledger close and consolidation processes • Experience with intercompany accounting, including transaction validation and difference resolution • Proficiency in SAP finance and accounting systems, with preference for S/4HANA exposure • Demonstrated ability to execute UAT test cases for accounting or finance systems • Experience documenting test evidence, logging defects, and supporting triage and fix validation with Finance and Engineering or IT teams • Familiarity with general ledger master data maintenance and data governance practices • Ability to perform variance analysis and support reconciliation processes • Experience refreshing and maintaining Power BI reports • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively within deadline-driven environments • Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams including accounting, systems, and program stakeholders • Comfort operating across both operational accounting and systems enablement work Additional Details • Location: Remote • Duration: 4 months • Pay Range • : $50 - $56.50 per hour • Weekly Schedule: 40 hours • Job Status: Non-Exempt • Application Deadline: Apply within 72 hours of the posting date to ensure consideration.
