Xcel Energy is at the forefront of building a robust enterprise data fabric, utilizing cutting-edge tools such as Databricks and Snowflake. We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our dynamic data management team, focusing on the technical implementation of data governance and security policies. This role is crucial in ensuring that classified data is effectively masked, secured, and compliant with enterprise standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for data quality, governance, and security, along with hands-on experience in relevant technologies.
Responsibilities
β’ Partner with Data and Platform Engineering teams to implement technical data governance capabilities across Databricks and Snowflake.
β’ Develop and apply data masking policies, role-based access controls, and group-level security management.
β’ Support data quality initiatives, including metadata management, reconciliation, and lineage tracking for ingested data.
β’ Enable and enforce data security and compliance standards across enterprise data platforms.
β’ Provide expertise on modern data architecture, data products, and governance frameworks.
β’ Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure policies and standards are followed.
β’ Contribute to the technical development and deployment of data management solutions (7β8 week development cycles).
β’ Advocate for the importance of data quality and governance across business and technical teams.
Skills
β’ Proficiency in Python programming for data integration and governance automation.
β’ Hands-on experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, MLflow, Workflows) and/or Snowflake.
β’ Strong understanding of data governance concepts: data quality, metadata management, lineage, data masking, and role-based access.
β’ Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders on the importance of data quality.
Qualifications
β’ 3β5 years of relevant experience in data management, governance, or a similar role.
β’ 1β2 years directly implementing governance or data quality solutions in modern architectures.
