Job Overview The Data Analyst (Governance) supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of data governance practices to ensure the quality, integrity, and accessibility of the organization’s data assets, with a primary focus on data used and maintained by the Data & Systems Strategy (D&SS) department. This role acts as a key liaison among Asset Information Management, field operations, engineering, Technical Information Systems, and compliance teams. The position promotes data management best practices and helps cultivate a culture of data stewardship across teams involved in asset management, operations, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Implement and monitor data governance best practices using established frameworks. Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define data ownership, stewardship, and accountability for asset data. Oversee data quality initiatives related to pipeline asset information, including data profiling, cleansing, and remediation. Ensure D&SS data management practices align with relevant industry standards and best practices (e.g., ISO, ISA, CFIHOS). Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage documentation for asset data in alignment with enterprise standards. Develop and maintain governance documentation, processes, and digital workspaces (including SharePoint) related to asset nomenclature and data workflows. Lead data governance awareness sessions specific to the pipeline industry and facilitate cross-functional working groups. Monitor, analyze, and report on data governance metrics and the effectiveness of implemented controls. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related discipline within the energy sector. Familiarity with data governance frameworks and data quality tools. Working knowledge of pipeline industry regulations (PHMSA), standards, and data management best practices. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and compliance. Experience with pipeline asset management systems, GIS, or records management platforms. Experience managing and designing SharePoint environments and building PowerApps forms or workflows. Experience using Power BI for reporting and data visualization. Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) principles in asset-focused organizations. Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail, particularly with safety-critical infrastructure data.
