Role description
Data Analyst
Location: Richmond, VA (On-site/Hybrid)
Duration: 1+ Year (Contract)
Experience Level: 2β3 Years
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly technical Data Analyst to serve as the primary bridge between our data infrastructure and our Marketing stakeholders. Unlike a general marketing role, this position is deeply technical; you will be responsible for the data architecture behind our high-volume email marketing campaigns.
You will use advanced SQL and Python to build sophisticated audience segments, automate campaign triggers, and provide the deep-dive analytics that define our outreach strategy.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Email Campaign Execution: Use advanced data mining techniques to build complex, high-precision audience files for email deployment, ensuring 100% accuracy in a regulated financial environment.
β’ Stakeholder Partnership: Act as the technical consultant for the Marketing department, translating their business goals into logic-based data requirements.
β’ Advanced Segmentation: Move beyond basic demographics to build behavioral and predictive segments using SQL and Python (e.g., propensity modeling or engagement scoring).
β’ Automation & Tooling: Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate the extraction and transformation of campaign data, reducing manual effort and human error.
β’ Deep-Dive Analytics: Perform post-campaign analysis to identify trends, fatigue points, and opportunities for sequence optimization within the email channel.
Technical Requirements
β’ Advanced SQL (Mandatory): Mastery of complex queries, including CTEs, window functions, and performance tuning. You must be comfortable querying millions of rows across disparate tables in a financial database.
β’ Python for Data Science: 2+ years of experience using Python for data manipulation (Pandas/NumPy) and automating data workflows.
β’ Experience: 2β3 years of experience in a data-heavy analytical role.
β’ Education: Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Cloud Data Warehousing: Previous experience with Snowflake or Databricks is highly preferred.
β’ Financial Services: Experience working with sensitive PII (Personally Identifiable Information) and understanding data governance in banking.
β’ Campaign Logic: Familiarity with how email service providers (ESPs) ingest data files and handle relational data.
About the Environment
This role is based in Richmond, VA, offering a long-term (1+ year) contract. You will work within a sophisticated data ecosystem, moving between high-level strategy sessions with marketing leaders and deep-grid technical work in Snowflake and Databricks.
