Brief Job Description
Data Analyst III (DA III) position performs moderately complex (journey-level) data collection, reporting and analysis to monitor, evaluate, and increase efficiencies for Acute Care related services. Work involves conducting detailed analysis of and extensive research on data, used for fiscal estimates and deliverables. Prepares concise, comprehensive technical reports to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations on data revisions. Assists in defining, developing, implementing data standards, developing data quality measures, analyzing data quality results, and implementing necessary changes to ensure data quality improvement. May establish and maintain standard work procedures governing the appropriate use of data, develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality. May provide guidance to others. The DAIII works with various teams to explore different aspects of a system (people, policy, and processes) to determine why particular areas are performing well or have opportunities for improvement. Identifies and interprets data patterns and trends and assesses data quality. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Data Querying β Compiles, queries, and loads data points using SQL, and other query languages, into databases from a variety of source formats to support complex analyses. Cleans and prepares data, as necessary, for access to other analysts in their work products as well as data visualization. Understands and is able to consult on data use and best practices for analysts throughout the department. (30%)
Data Quality β Understands and enforces data quality measures and metrics. Consults on improvements to data quality associated with processes. Ensures data integrity by identifying data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies in the content, structure, and relationships within data; coordinates with stakeholders to improve data quality. Interprets results to identify significant differences in data. Identifies and interprets data patterns and trends and assesses data quality. (30%)
Coordination β Utilizes strong communication skills to explain Provider Finance Department and Acute Care business processes and negotiate for information and resources needed to ensure successful Program initiatives. Consults with internal and external stakeholders regarding Acute Care data needs and requests. Coordinates with Program subject matter experts to ensure accuracy of reporting tools, workflows and reporting procedures. Serves as a subject matter expert on data integrity, extraction, and compilation. (20%)
Reporting β Oversees development of high-quality written projects and reports; Consults on the selection of data management tools, the development of standards, usage guidelines, and procedures for those tools to be used by the department section. Understands, consults on, and implements data standards. Coordinates with others who collect, organize, analyze, and prepare materials in response to requests for information and reports specific to the data. Prepares concise, comprehensive technical reports to present and interpret data; makes recommendations on revisions to data collection methodologies. Develops software applications or programming to use for financial analysis, statistical modeling, and graphic analysis. (15%)

Experience with SQL-based data querying software preferred.
