Job Description
Summary:
The main function of a business operations specialist is to maintain vendor relationships, acting as a business analyst for non-IT
projects or filling organizational roles above an administrative level, but below a management level.
Other responsibilities may
include maintaining all project management processes, including project goals, deadlines, metrics and budget. The business
operations specialist usually reports to a project manager or director.
Job Responsibilities:
β’ Review and approve contracts, cost proposals and contract supplements.
β’ Approve project and work breakdown structures.
β’ Review and approve the documentation of business processes.
β’ Approve project budgets and expenditures, monitor transaction controls and costs against budgets.
β’ Predict potential budget overruns and offer solutions.
β’ Consult with corporate offices, project managers, auditors, client and sub-consultant representatives regarding future proposals.
β’ Prepare sub-agreements and review and input sub-consultant invoices to ensure contact compliance.
Skills:
β’ Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, customer service and interpersonal skills.
β’ Expert ability to work independently and manage oneβs time.
β’ Expert knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
β’ Expert ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed.
β’ Expert ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses.
β’ Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel; Enterprise Application experience a plus.
Positionβs Contributions to Work Group:
- Analysis data sets, create process improvements, support category teams in cost reduction including projects and tariffs, create leadership summaries
- Analyze and interpret large and complex datasets to identify cost drivers, trends, and optimization opportunities
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of reporting and analytics
- Support category management teams with financial and cost-reduction initiatives, including sourcing projects, supplier negotiations, and tariff impact analysis
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (procurement, finance, operations) to deliver actionable insights for decision-making
- Prepare clear, concise leadership summaries and executive-ready reports highlighting risks, savings opportunities, and performance metrics
- Track and report progress on cost savings, projects, and tariff-related initiatives
