Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Analyst with strong expertise in investment operations, position reconciliation, SQL and AWS services. The analyst will be responsible for analyzing position, transaction, and balance data for a books and records platform; answering daily data-led production support inquiries; producing functional documentation for AWS development. This role requires a blend of technical, business, and problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on data discovery, analysis, and production support.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Analyze position, transaction, and balance data within the books and records platform to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
β’ Collaborate with business and technology teams to gather requirements and create clear, actionable business requirement documents for books and records initiatives.
β’ Develop functional documentation to guide AWS developers and service implementation.
β’ Use SQL (including Athena) extensively for data discovery, validation, root cause analysis, and production support.
β’ Partner with agile teams, contributing to backlog refinement, sprint planning, and delivery.
β’ Provide insights into books and records data flows, dependencies, and reconciliation needs.
β’ Support production by troubleshooting data issues, identifying gaps, and recommending solutions.
Qualifications
β’ Proven experience working with IBOR data (positions, transactions, balances) in financial services or asset management.
β’ Strong SQL skills, including advanced querying, performance optimization, and experience with AWS Athena.
β’ Understanding of AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, DynamoDB, etc) and ability to document functional requirements for AWS developers.
β’ Solid understanding of agile methodology and working in cross-functional teams.
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
β’ Excellent communication skills for documenting business requirements and functional designs.
Nice to Have
β’ Familiarity with data governance and data quality practices.
β’ Experience in production support for large data systems.
β’ Knowledge of investment operations or portfolio accounting systems.
