Data Analyst – Consultant (Contract)
Day Rate: £400 – £500 per day (Inside IR35)
Location: Hybrid – UK-wide (multiple major cities)

Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Data Analyst (Consultant level) to help organisations make better decisions through the effective use of data, analytics, and insight.
This role is ideal for a contractor who enjoys working in multidisciplinary delivery teams and using performance data, KPIs, and storytelling to solve complex problems. You will support high-impact digital services across government, healthcare, and purpose-driven organisations, while contributing to the development of a modern data and analytics capability.
Responsibilities
• Turn complex data into clear, actionable insights that inform service and product decisions.
• Work within product delivery teams to design and implement performance measurement frameworks aligned to goals, user needs, and KPIs.
• Select and apply appropriate analytical techniques to address client problems within legal, technical, and ethical constraints.
• Build and maintain dashboards and reporting that support service performance monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Analyse, cleanse, validate, and interpret data from multiple sources to derive meaningful insights.
• Communicate findings effectively using data visualisation and narrative to influence decision-making.
• Mentor and support junior colleagues, providing constructive feedback and sharing best practice.
• Apply appropriate measurement approaches across different stages of the product or service lifecycle.
Essential Experience
• Experience working with analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Splunk, Datadog, or similar tools.
• Proven use of data visualisation tools (e.g. Data Studio) to create service performance dashboards.
• Experience designing and implementing performance frameworks using KPIs and/or OKRs.
• Strong analytical skills in identifying appropriate data sources and interpreting results accurately.
• Experience collecting, cleansing, and analysing data to produce actionable insights.
• Ability to choose the most effective visual or narrative format to communicate insights clearly.
• Experience forming hypotheses, testing assumptions, and generating evidence-based insights.
• Experience working within a UK government GDS delivery environment.
• Active UK Security Clearance (SC) or eligibility, including 5+ years continuous UK residency.
Desirable Experience
• Experience with additional data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, or Power Query.
• Experience using scripting or programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R.
• Knowledge of data security, governance, and privacy considerations.
• Experience making evidence-based recommendations for service or product improvements.
Security Requirements
• Applicants must either hold active UK Security Clearance (SC) or meet eligibility criteria.
• Eligibility requires UK citizenship, continuous UK residence for the past five years, and no single absence exceeding 28 consecutive days.
Working Model
• Hybrid working model combining home working, office locations, and client sites as required.
• Travel may be required depending on project and client needs.
