About the Role:
A leading global investment firm is seeking a Data / Business Analyst with strong experience in investment data and security master platforms. This is a high-impact contract role supporting critical data initiatives across multiple asset classes, including index data integration, FactSet onboarding, and potentially replacing an existing Markit EDM platform with a custom-built internal solution.
This position offers direct collaboration with portfolio managers, traders, and technology teams—ideal for someone who understands both financial data and technology-driven business analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze and manage complex investment and reference data across equities, fixed income, and derivatives
• Capture business requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications
• Support data integration and platform migration projects (e.g. Markit EDM, GoldenSource, Bloomberg, FactSet)
• Perform hands-on data modeling and analysis using SQL, Python/R, Excel VBA, and Bloomberg
• Partner with development teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and performance
• Provide subject matter expertise on capital markets data and support downstream data consumers
Required Skills & Experience:
• 5–10 years of experience in investment data analysis, preferably within asset management or capital markets
• Deep understanding of financial instruments, including:
• Equities: identifiers, fundamentals, valuation models
• Derivatives: Total Return Swaps, CDS, futures
• Fixed Income: pricing, credit risk, duration/convexity
• Strong technical skills in: SQL, Python or R, Excel VBA, Bloomberg Terminal
• Familiarity with data management platforms such as Markit EDM, GoldenSource, FactSet, or Bloomberg Data License
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to work with trading and portfolio management teams
• Bachelor's in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline (CFA designation or progress preferred)
