Role description
Duration: 2+ Months Location: MN-St. Paul Overview: Every Turnberry consultant belongs to a practice, an internal group of consultants and leaders with shared experience and expertise. Each of these practices aligns to one of the core services Turnberry offers to clients. As a Data Analyst/Business Analyst, you will join Turnberry's Data Strategy and Intelligence practice and service. This service provides insights into company data, advanced analytics solutions, robust data governance, and tailored solutions for specific data challenges. Responsibilities β€’ Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to facilitate business and technical requirements gathering, discovery sessions, and solution definition activities β€’ Analyze, profile, validate, and troubleshoot data from multiple sources to support business decisions, project approvals, and operational initiatives β€’ Design, develop, and enhance business intelligence reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions using relational and non-relational data sources β€’ Participate in database design and data architecture activities, including data mapping, source-to-target mappings, data modeling (star/snowflake schemas), and data integration efforts β€’ Conduct data feasibility assessments and pre-project evaluations to identify data availability, quality, risks, constraints, and implementation considerations β€’ Translate business needs into well-defined technical requirements, user stories, data specifications, and actionable insights for development teams β€’ Support data quality initiatives through profiling, validation, reconciliation, and root cause analysis to ensure data accuracy and integrity β€’ Develop and deliver end-user training, workshops, and documentation focused on reporting solutions, analytical tools, and data best practices β€’ Promote data literacy by educating stakeholders on data interpretation, reporting capabilities, self-service tools, and responsible data usage β€’ Contribute to data governance initiatives, including data quality controls, data dictionary development, metadata management, data catalog maintenance, and documentation standards β€’ Collaborate with business and technical teams to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and data quality issues through structured analysis and reporting β€’ Design reports and dashboards that effectively communicate insights through data storytelling and visualization techniques aligned to business objectives β€’ Support end-to-end project delivery activities, including requirements analysis, solution design reviews, development support, testing, validation, user acceptance, deployment readiness, and post-implementation support β€’ Facilitate communication across cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of business objectives, technical solutions, and project deliverables β€’ Organize, document, and maintain business, technical, and reporting artifacts to support project transparency, knowledge sharing, and operational efficiency β€’ Ensure adherence to established standards for data confidentiality, security, governance, and regulatory compliance β€’ Provide customer-focused support by delivering high-quality data and reporting solutions that align with stakeholder expectations and business outcomes β€’ Effectively manage multiple priorities, competing demands, and changing requirements while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of accuracy Qualifications β€’ 2-4 years of hands-on data analysis, reporting, and data related project experience β€’ Experience performing business and technical requirements gathering with both technical and non-technical stakeholders β€’ Background in data analysis, profiling, and validation to support business decisions and project approvals β€’ Experience in BI/reporting development using relational and non-relational data sources β€’ Involvement in database design activities, including data mapping, data models (star/snowflake), and data integration β€’ Experience conducting pre-project data evaluation and feasibility analysis β€’ Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering training on data tools and reporting solutions β€’ Experience contributing to data literacy initiatives and best practices adoption β€’ Exposure to data governance concepts such as data quality controls, data dictionary/catalog development β€’ Financial services/banking industry experience is strongly desired β€’ Ability to support end-to-end project delivery, including analysis, design review, development, and user enablement β€’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including data troubleshooting and debugging β€’ Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and actionable insights β€’ Effective communication and facilitation skills for working with cross-functional stakeholders β€’ Proficiency in data storytelling and reporting design to meet business objectives β€’ Ability to organize and manage information systematically for efficiency and clarity β€’ Strong data profiling and pattern recognition skills to identify trends and quality issues β€’ Capability to train and educate users on data tools, reporting outputs, and best practices β€’ Ability to work effectively under pressure, interruptions, and changing priorities β€’ Strong attention to detail and data accuracy standards β€’ Commitment to data confidentiality, security, and integrity β€’ Customer-focused mindset with ability to deliver solutions aligned to client expectations Key Technolologies β€’ SQL (basic querying and data extraction) β€’ Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI or comparable platforms) β€’ Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel for data analysis and reporting) β€’ Knowledge of data modeling techniques β€’ Familiarity with data integration and ETL concepts β€’ Experience working with relational and non-relational databases β€’ Tools supporting data cataloging and data dictionary development β€’ Reporting and analytics platforms beyond Excel β€’ General understanding of data validation, testing, and quality control tools/processes The salary range for this role is $105,000 to $150,000 or the hourly equivalent.
