Location: 1-day per week in Central London
Rate: £400 per day (OUTSIDE IR35)
Duration: 6 months (rolling)
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Data & Analytics Developer to support the development and maintenance of high-quality technical data solutions that enable evidence-based business and operational decision-making. You will work within an Agile Scrum team, building and enhancing ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting solutions aligned with the organisation’s Data & Analytics strategy.
Key Responsibilities
• Data & Analytics Development
• Develop and maintain new and existing ETL/ELT processes, dashboards, reporting tools, and analytics applications.
• Deliver high-quality, reliable code that meets business requirements, design specifications, and audit/compliance standards.
• Produce clear technical design documentation in line with Data & Analytics standards.
Testing & Quality Assurance
• Support and participate in unit testing and regression testing to ensure code quality and readiness for system test environments.
• Fix defects, perform performance tuning, and optimise code as required.
• Take part in design walkthroughs and quality assurance sessions with the wider Analytics Development & Delivery team.
Agile Delivery
• Develop to agreed timelines, raising technical risks or delays to the Technical Delivery Manager.
Collaborate with Scrum team members to ensure work is delivered efficiently and meets operational requirements.
Governance & Compliance
• Ensure all solutions adhere to data privacy, data protection, and access control policies.
• Guarantee that personal data is stored securely and anonymised where appropriate.
• Stakeholder Collaboration
Work Closely With
• Business Analysis teams to understand requirements for reports, dashboards, and applications.
• Technical Delivery Manager and Test teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
• Internal compliance teams to meet Data Protection, FOI, and data release policies.
• External data partners (e.g., ticketing system vendors, train operating companies).
• Provide user access to data, offer advice on data usage, and deliver training where needed.
Essential Skills & Experience
• Strong experience in ETL/ELT development, data warehousing, BI methodologies, and handling structured/unstructured data.
• Deep knowledge of star schema design, Kimball, Inmon, or hybrid warehouse approaches.
• Expertise with on-premise, cloud, or hybrid Oracle and/or Microsoft data technologies, ideally including:
• SQL Server 2008+, T-SQL, SSIS, APS, Azure
• Oracle 11g/RAC, SQL, PL/SQL, ODI, OBIEE
• Expert in writing and reviewing complex SQL queries, performance tuning, and database monitoring.
• Knowledge of Agile delivery frameworks and SDLC methodologies.
