Data Annotation Specialist (Computer Vision)

Overview:
Brooksource is seeking a detail-oriented Data Annotation Specialist to support a high-impact enterprise retail computer vision initiative. This role involves both image annotation and quality assurance. You will work with a team deploying AI-powered models across hundreds of physical stores, helping ensure training and validation data is accurate and production-ready.
You will use CVAT, an open-source computer vision annotation tool, to label objects in images and video, review outputs, and identify false positives in model predictions.

Responsibilities:
β’ Annotate product images and in-store camera frames using CVAT (bounding boxes, classifications)
β’ Review and verify model outputs for accuracy (true vs. false positives)
β’ Provide QA feedback on annotations to maintain consistency and labeling standards
β’ Generate summary reports using Excel or similar tools
β’ Work closely with engineering stakeholders to align on image labeling priorities and schema
β’ Contribute to the model feedback loop to support ongoing model improvement
Required Skills:
β’ Hands-on experience with CVAT or similar annotation tools (Labelbox, V7, Supervisely, etc.)
β’ Familiarity with bounding boxes, object classification, and basic computer vision workflows
β’ Experience performing manual image review or working with ML datasets
β’ Strong attention to detail and consistency
β’ Proficiency with Excel for reporting and basic data analysis
β’ Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment
β’ U.S.-based and authorized to work (due to data handling requirements)
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Experience in retail, grocery, or product recognition computer vision projects
β’ Familiarity with machine learning development workflows (training, testing, validation)
β’ Prior QA, data review, or annotation team leadership experience
