Role description
We have an excellent opportunity for an Excel and data whizz to support our Product team on a 3-month fixed term contract. This would suit a candidate looking to build experience in a data-focused role. Essential Experience β€’ Demonstrable understanding of data services via a STEM or other numerate degree or with at least a couple of years' experience in market or customer focussed data services β€’ Excellent working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint Desirable Experience β€’ Tableau, Power B or other visualisation tools β€’ Visual Basic β€’ Working knowledge of SQL β€’ Ability to manipulate, process and extract value from large, disconnected datasets Who we are We are Pearson Ham Group, an award winning management consultancy specialising in pricing. Around 80 percent of the UK’s leading insurer brands rely on our insights to monitor market movements, understand competitor behaviour and make better pricing decisions that directly affect real customers. We have recently joined Defaqto, one of the UK’s most trusted sources of financial product and market intelligence. Team Overview We have developed a market leading price tracking solution for the insurance sector, collating pricing data for a consistent panel of consumers across the leading price comparison sites. This data underpins a suite of reporting and insight products used by both insurance clients and price comparison partners to understand market behaviour and inform pricing strategy. What you'll do β€’ Review daily, weekly, and monthly reports before distribution to our clients β€’ Engage with clients to assist with ad-hoc data requests β€’ Support change management processes and task prioritisation β€’ Monitor system performance and highlight issues β€’ Use available monitoring tools and reporting to identify issue causes β€’ Liaise with the development team to aid with reconciliation and troubleshooting β€’ Support the design, build and maintenance of reports and dashboards for use by clients, and within the business β€’ Test new product developments, including metrics and dashboards β€’ Provide input into system and process development to support new sectors β€’ Take steps towards continuous improvement in market pricing processes What you'll need to succeed Essential Requirements β€’ Graduate with a STEM or relevant degree OR 2+ years’ relevant industry experience in market or customer focussed data services β€’ Excellent problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail β€’ Strong communication with a proven ability to quickly build and maintain positive, effective relationships across all levels β€’ Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced team environment β€’ Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Desirable β€’ Tableau / Power BI or other visualisation tools β€’ Exposure to Visual Basic β€’ Working knowledge of SQL β€’ Ability manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets is a plus Your approach to work β€’ Self-starter with strong continuous improvement mindset β€’ Happy to role sleeves up and get stuck in Role type & location This is a 3- month fixed term contract to cover a sabbatical. It is a hybrid position based from our London office so you'll need to be able to work with colleagues in the office each week.
