Short discovery piece to begin with
Hybrid - 2x/week in Leeds
The Role:
You’ll play a pivotal role in analysing the existing data warehouse (AS-IS), defining the future state (TO-BE) on AWS, and identifying the gaps across data models, architecture, and processes. This role requires someone confident working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive clarity and ensure alignment on the transformation roadmap.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyse and document the current state of the SQL Server data warehouse, including data models, ETL processes, and reporting layers.
• Define the TO-BE state for a cloud-native data warehouse solution on AWS (e.g. Redshift, S3, Glue, etc.).
• Perform a detailed gap analysis, identifying discrepancies in data sources, structures, governance, and business logic.
• Engage with data engineers, architects, and business users to gather requirements and validate findings.
• Support the development of migration strategies, ensuring data integrity and alignment with business objectives.
• Contribute to the data strategy and roadmap, highlighting risks and dependencies.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Strong background as a Data Business Analyst within enterprise environments.
• In-depth experience with SQL Server data warehouses, including understanding of data structures and ETL.
• Practical knowledge of cloud migration projects, particularly involving AWS data services.
• Demonstrated experience delivering AS-IS / TO-BE analysis and producing clear, structured documentation.
• Strong analytical and communication skills to manage cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience working alongside data architecture and engineering teams.
