Role description
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Data Centre Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of data centre infrastructure. The role involves hands-on work with servers, networking equipment, and data centre facilities to ensure high availability, performance, and security of IT services.
This position is ideal for candidates with experience in data centre operations, hardware support, and infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain data centre hardware (servers, racks, cabling)
Perform break/fix, hardware replacement, and upgrades
Support server builds, decommissioning, and asset lifecycle management
Monitor data centre systems and respond to incidents
Support network and storage equipment under guidance
Ensure compliance with data centre standards, security, and safety procedures
Maintain accurate documentation and asset records
Work closely with infrastructure, network, and cloud teams
Required Skills & Experience
Experience in a Data Centre Engineer / Data Centre Support / Infrastructure role
Hands-on experience with:
Server hardware (Dell, HPE, Lenovo or similar)
Racking, stacking, and structured cabling
Basic understanding of:
Networking fundamentals
Storage systems
Virtualisation concepts
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in on-site, shift-based, or on-call environments
Preferred / Advantageous Skills
Experience with:
Windows Server and/or Linux environments
Virtualisation platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
Monitoring and ticketing systems
Exposure to cloud or hybrid infrastructure
IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, vendor certifications)
Education
Diploma or Bachelorβs degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (preferred)
Equivalent hands-on experience will be considered
