Data Engineer

Our client, a leader in the utilities industry, is looking to hire a Data Engineer. This is a hybrid role that will be onsite 3x per week in Columbus, OH. • This job is a 6-month W2 contract role with benefits! • As a Data Engineer, you will gather requirements, schedule updates as needed, analyze source data systems, and create components required for data lakes, focusing on ingestion from production systems. What You'll Be Doing: • Design, program, build, deploy, and maintain software applications and systems such as databases, cloud, or other components required for data Lakes • Analyze and modify existing software as well as design, construct, and test • Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design • Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs • Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to standards, and knowledge sharing among team members Required Skills & Experience • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or relevant field • 5+ years of experience in technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, or Java • Working experience in an Azure environment, working with Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory and/or Databricks • Expertise using Cloud Security, such as Active Directory, network security groups, and encryption services • Experience building and maintaining a data architecture that supports real-time and batch processing • Proficiency in Python Desired Skills & Experience • Prior experience in the utilities/power/energy industry a plus!
