Data Engineer (Snowflake & Asset Management)
6 Month Contract
London (Hybrid)
Via Umbrella
Our UK leading banking client are looking for a Data Engineer to join their team on an initial 6-month contract.
Key skills/knowledge required:
β’ Proficiency in Python and SQL for data engineering and application development
β’ Experience building data pipelines and ETL processes for capital markets data
β’ Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and Snowflake data platform
β’ Experience with cloud-native development patterns and AWS services (Lambda, S3, RDS, etc.)
β’ Hands-on experience integrating with OMS platforms (Aladdin, Murex, Charles River, etc.) including data extraction, transformation, and real-time feeds
β’ Strong understanding of the capital markets trade lifecycle and order management workflows
β’ Strong problem-solving skills with ability to design scalable, resilient solutions
β’ Ability to work effectively with front-office stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical solutions
β’ Strong collaboration and communication skills, with ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
β’ Understanding of trading workflows, trade lifecycle, and settlement processes
β’ Knowledge of data engineering workflows, pipelines, and integration patterns
β’ Awareness of regulatory and compliance considerations in capital markets delivery
β’ Familiarity with agile principles and team-based delivery
Desirable:
β’ Familiarity with agile delivery practices and frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, Team Topologies)
β’ Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling, and automated testing practices
β’ Experience in regulated financial services environments
β’ Knowledge of data modelling, streaming, and real-time integration patterns
β’ Experience with multiple asset classes (equities, fixed income, derivatives)
β’ Knowledge of UK regulatory environment and FCA requirements
β’ Awareness of portfolio management processes and related systems
β’ Experience working directly with front-office or business stakeholders
β’ Background in data-intensive and cloud-native solution delivery
β’ Exposure to complex, multi-team delivery environments with dependencies
