Chamberlain Advisors is seeking a Data Engineer – AI / ML to support a Clinical Trials–focused data science organization. This role is responsible for enabling data operations, advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI initiatives by building reliable, scalable data pipelines and optimizing modern data architectures. The Data Engineer will partner closely with data scientists and analytics teams to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality data delivery that supports critical business and research functions. What You’ll Be Accountable For
• Write and maintain complex SQL queries across large, real-time datasets to generate recurring data extracts.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize scalable ELT and ML pipelines using Python and Databricks.
• Automate workflows and implement robust data quality checks across pipelines.
• Refactor existing pipelines to improve efficiency, maintainability, and configuration management.
• Configure, tune, and optimize Databricks and Snowflake environments.
• Migrate data pipelines and tables across development, test, and production environments.
• Build Power BI dashboards to support analytics, monitoring, and data quality validation.
• Advise on data architecture best practices with a focus on scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Document system designs, data flows, dependencies, and integration points.
• Collaborate with analytics and data science teams to support ML and generative AI workflows.
What Qualifications You Need
• 3–6 years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related roles.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and Azure (or comparable cloud platforms).
• Advanced SQL expertise, including: Query optimization and performance tuning / Complex joins, window functions, CTEs, and dynamic SQL / Stored procedures and advanced aggregations (ROLLUP, CUBE) / Pivot/unpivot operations / Handling semi-structured data (JSON/XML)
• Strong Python programming skills for analytics, automation, orchestration, and pipeline development.
• Experience designing data architectures to support large-scale analytics, ML, and AI workloads.
• Experience building dashboards in Power BI and analytics applications in Streamlit.
• Exposure to developing and deploying ML and Generative AI pipelines, including integration with training and inference workflows.
• Familiarity with streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka) is a plus.
• Experience working with healthcare-related datasets (e.g., prescriptions, insurance claims, electronic health records) is a plus.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
