Data Engineer / Cloud Developer (Contract - 12 Months) 📍 Nutley, NJ (Hybrid: 3 days onsite Tue-Thu) 📅 12-Month Contract (June 1, 2026 - May 31, 2027) 💰 $108-$120/hour (based on experience) We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer / Cloud Developer to join a high-impact team supporting advanced data platforms and analytics initiatives. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives in cloud-native environments and enjoys building scalable, production-grade data solutions. What You'll Do • Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines (ingestion, transformation, validation) • Develop and maintain solutions using AWS, Python, and Databricks (Spark/PySpark) • Work with diverse datasets, including structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data • Architect and implement cloud-native data solutions aligned with business needs • Drive end-to-end delivery across planning, design, development, testing, and deployment • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, IT partners, and external vendors • Support data governance, quality, and compliance initiatives Required Qualifications • 7-10+ years of experience in Data Engineering and/or Cloud Development • Strong expertise in: • Python, SQL, and PySpark • AWS data services (S3, Lambda, RDS, FSx/EFS) • Databricks (including cluster management and performance optimization) • Proven ability to build scalable data pipelines and modern data platforms • Experience with CI/CD and orchestration tools (GitHub, Azure DevOps, Apache Airflow) • Solid understanding of data architecture and cloud best practices • Experience managing technical projects across the full lifecycle • Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications • Experience with life sciences data formats (e.g., DICOM, FASTQ, BAM, PLINK, SAS7BDAT) • Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Immuta) • Exposure to analytics tools such as Tableau, R/Posit, or SAS • Working knowledge of machine learning frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) • Experience with Unity Catalog or Databricks platform administration • Knowledge of Kubernetes/EKS • Understanding of Computer System Validation (GxP vs Non-GxP) • Relevant AWS and/or Databricks certifications Impellam Group and its brands are equal-opportunity employers committed to diversity and inclusion.
