Job Description
This position reports to the Senior Manager, PPNR Model Development team within the Treasury and Financial Modelling group. The Data Engineer will analyze, manipulate, and synthesize data from various sources and transform it into meaningful and insightful outputs for loan balance forecasts for stress testing purposes, ensuring compliance with standards, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities
β’ Support partners and stakeholders in data interpretation and analysis
β’ Build automated tools and extract data for development and production
β’ Develop and maintain complex data models using industry-standard modeling tools
β’ Develop and maintain ETL jobs and frameworks using the Bankβs standard tools
β’ Maintain expert knowledge of data through profiling, quality reporting, and metadata production
β’ Support data acquisition, ingestion, and documentation per enterprise standards and guidelines
β’ Communicate complex technical designs and development details to non-technical business partners
β’ Support development and testing teams in resolving data issues, including complex escalations
β’ Analyze business and data requirements to create complete business solutions (data models, ETL, business rules, lifecycle management, governance, metadata)
β’ Collaborate with data providers, platform teams, IT, Treasury, Finance, and Model Validation teams to ensure model soundness and accuracy
Qualifications
Degree/Certifications Required:
β’ Bachelorβs Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Finance, or Engineering
Years of Experience:
β’ 5-10 years of relevant industry experience
Must Have:
1. 5-10 years of experience in advanced data analytics (manipulation, transformation)
1. 5-10 years of experience with programming languages such as SAS, Python, SQL, VBA
1. 5-10 years of experience using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Nice to Have:
1. Previous banking or financial services experience
1. Experience in predictive modeling or data model governance
1. Knowledge of commercial loans/products or retail lending
1. Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and Microsoft Azure

β’ Ideal candidate will have strong business acumen, commercial lending experience, and a background in data transformation/manipulation
β’ Research experience (e.g., published academic work) and strong critical thinking/problem-solving skills are assets
