Role description
Data Engineer (Azure, Databricks, Terraform) Contract: Initial 3 months (strong likelihood of a 6 month extension if all goes well) Outside IR35 Day rate: £450 - £500/day Location: Remote (occasional visits to Leeds office) We're working with a financial services business in the middle of a major Databricks migration, moving off a legacy stack and building out a modern, cloud-native data platform. It's a meaty piece of transformation work and they need two strong Data Engineers to come in and help drive it forward. This is a genuinely hands-on role. You'll be building out data pipelines and the Databricks environment itself, embedding good engineering practice across the team, and working shoulder to shoulder with delivery squads as the wider transformation takes shape. If you like being close to the architecture decisions and the day-to-day delivery rhythm, this one's worth a proper look. Outside IR35, remote first, and paying £450 to £500 a day depending on experience. Initial three month contract with a strong steer towards a six month engagement for the right people. The start date is the beginning of September, so we're moving quickly on this one. What You'll Do • Build and maintain the Databricks environment and underlying Azure data infrastructure, using Terraform to keep everything consistent and repeatable • Design, build, and own data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, and orchestration across the platform • Keep an eye on data quality, pipeline reliability, and performance, spotting issues before they become problems • Work directly with delivery squads, getting involved in sprint planning, Jira prioritisation, and supporting project kick-offs • Support the wider transformation programme, including data migration work, and integration with Snowflake, Palantir, and other third party platforms What We're Looking For Essential: • Subject matter expertise in Databricks, including environment build, maintenance, and optimisation • Strong hands-on experience with Azure • Terraform for infrastructure as code • Strong data pipeline development experience (batch and/or streaming) • Solid SQL and Python skills Desirable (useful if you've worked with the legacy stack they're moving away from): • A software development background, ideally Python • Experience with Snowflake or Palantir • Azure DevOps and GitHub • CI/CD pipeline experience • SQL Server If you've got the Databricks and Azure chops and fancy getting stuck into a proper transformation project with a business that's serious about doing it right, get in touch. We're looking to have people started by the beginning of September, so don't sit on this one. At Inara Talent, we believe everyone deserves a fair chance to shine. We connect great people from all backgrounds with opportunities where they can thrive making sure hiring is fair, inclusive, and genuinely diverse. No matter your background, we focus on what matters: your talent.
