Role description
Data Warehouse Developer / Data Consultant – NHS
Location: Predominantly remote, with occasional onsite attendance at Bradford Royal Infirmary, Bradford
Rate: Up to £575 per day (Umbrella)
Contract: Full-time contract
Start: Immediate / August 2026
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Data Warehouse Developer / Data Consultant to support a major NHS organisation with the remediation of data pipeline and database performance issues.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong knowledge of Cerner (Oracle Health) data, advanced SQL and database performance tuning, combined with the ability to investigate complex data problems and work directly with stakeholders to understand requirements.
The role is predominantly remote, although you will need to attend the Bradford site initially to collect equipment and may be required onsite for occasional meetings.
Key Responsibilities
• Investigate and remediate performance issues affecting data pipelines and database workloads.
• Diagnose complex data and performance problems and identify appropriate solutions.
• Develop, analyse and optimise advanced SQL.
• Apply DBA knowledge to database and query performance tuning.
• Work with Cerner (Oracle Health) data and associated data structures.
• Understand and work effectively with existing data architecture and warehouse structures.
• Support data pipeline troubleshooting and remediation.
• Gather and clarify requirements with relevant NHS stakeholders.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into appropriate technical solutions.
• Work with NHS data dictionaries and requirements associated with national submissions.
• Operate independently and use sound judgement when investigating technical issues.
Essential Experience
You will need to demonstrate:
• Deep knowledge and practical experience of Cerner (Oracle Health) data.
• At least 5 years' NHS experience.
• Advanced SQL skills.
• Strong DBA knowledge, particularly database and query performance tuning.
• Data warehouse, data architecture and data structure knowledge.
• Understanding of NHS national submissions and data dictionaries.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving data pipeline and performance issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Experience gathering requirements directly from stakeholders.
• The communication skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
This role will suit an experienced NHS data professional who combines strong hands-on technical capability with a consulting mindset. You should be comfortable taking ownership of complex problems, investigating root causes and working with stakeholders to establish what is required before implementing or recommending a solution.
Previous exposure to Cerner data is a core requirement, rather than simply general healthcare or NHS data experience.
Working Arrangements
The assignment is predominantly remote. Attendance at Bradford Royal Infirmary, Duckworth Lane, Bradford, BD9 6RJ will be required to collect equipment, with occasional onsite meetings potentially required during the assignment.
Rate
Up to £575 per day – Umbrella.
