Role description
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer (Freelance) to support the design, development, and optimization of scalable data systems for a fast-paced, data-driven organization. This role requires deep technical expertise across modern cloud data platforms and a strong ability to build robust, efficient pipelines that power analytics and business insights. Key Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows • Develop and optimize data architectures using cloud-based solutions • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and product teams to deliver high-quality datasets • Implement data modeling strategies to support analytics and reporting needs • Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across systems • Optimize performance and cost-efficiency of data infrastructure • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data engineering issues • Contribute to best practices, documentation, and code standards Required Qualifications • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field • Strong experience with Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, or related services) • Hands-on experience with Databricks for large-scale data processing • Deep knowledge of Snowflake data warehousing • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines • Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing concepts, and distributed systems • Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams Preferred Qualifications • Experience with streaming data technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming) • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code • Knowledge of data governance and security best practices • Previous experience in enterprise or high-volume data environments Working Model • Hybrid role based in Atlanta, GA • 4 days onsite per week, 1 day remote Contract Details • Freelance / contract engagement • Competitive hourly or daily rate, based on experience • Potential for extension based on performance and project needs
