Role description
Contract Data Engineer £450-£480/day Outside IR35 6 Months Hybrid (London) A leading infrastructure investment firm is rebuilding its data platform from the ground up, starting with a greenfield Snowflake data warehouse on Azure. Backed by strong C-suite support, this is a unique opportunity to help shape a major transformation from day one. You'll work alongside the Lead Data Engineer to evolve the back-end stack in line with business needs, modern engineering standards, and architectural best practices. THE ROLE: As Data Engineer, you will: • Support the Lead Data Engineer in driving development of the back-end stack. • Own key elements of the Snowflake data warehouse build (greenfield project). • Work closely with a consultant architect to implement a scalable, secure data platform. • Engage with senior business stakeholders including COO, CFO, and Head of FP&A. • Design robust ingestion pipelines, transformation logic, and QA frameworks. • Potentially manage and mentor a junior engineer over time. • Document architecture and development workflows. YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: You'll need: • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, SQL, and Python. • Version control and collaboration using Git. • Proven background in data modelling and architecture design. Nice to have: • Experience with Azure services (e.g., App registration, Storage Accounts). • Familiarity with Terraform (especially Snowflake provider), DBT, Power Automate, and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or others). • Experience working on greenfield builds. • Asset management experience.
