Job Description:
The Data Engineer is accountable for designing, creating, and maintaining data pipelines and data models (using various data preparation and storage technologies) for the Projects for the Risk Assurance Data and System. You are expected to work as our lead engineer, partnering with our Data Analysis, IT Teams, partners, and developers to drive the design and overview the technical side of the delivery.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
β’ Accountable for designing, developing, testing, cataloging, and maintaining Data Software and Data Pipeline solutions for the Corporate Risk and Compliance functions
β’ Analyze raw data/data sets in various data technology environments
β’ Combine raw information from different sources and technologies
β’ Identify opportunities for data acquisition
β’ Work collaboratively with IT teams and peer engineers to ensure data duplication is minimized and solutions are aligned to the overall strategic IT roadmap
β’ Deliver clean, secure, performant code/technology components that meet all the non-functional requirements
β’ Participate in Design Reviews, peer code reviews, and Impact Assessment Sessions to identify appropriate solutions
β’ Create test data, relevant supporting documentation, and support deployment for small to medium complex solutions
β’ Work within an agile framework to ensure efficient solution delivery and identify opportunities to improve the development process
β’ Support discussions on design approaches to solving business problems
β’ Maintain broad knowledge in Data sources and Analytics applications/self-service areas supporting Corporate Risk and Compliance
β’ Work with the COE to enhance guidelines, standards, and methodologies in partnership with peers
β’ Actively participate in the appropriate communities of practice
β’ Provide high-level customer service and take personal accountability for outcomes
β’ Lead our data-related design, modeling, and data solution delivery and proactively address identified issues
β’ Lead other developers and analysts through design concepts
β’ Demonstrate excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills
β’ Develop relationships at all levels of the business
β’ Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications:
Experience (Requirements):
β’ 5-10 years of experience in a technical data, data modeling, and/or data analytics role, specifically in technical design, development, and implementation
β’ Strong knowledge of Excel, Power BI, Snowflake, Jira, Confluence, Databricks, and Alteryx
β’ Experience in understanding reporting requirements and building data models for reporting in Power BI and Snowflake
β’ Expert knowledge and experience with data modeling and engineering toolsets, SQL, multiple file formats (JSON, XML, etc.), data security, and data profiling
β’ Proficient in SQL and creating stored procedures and integration techniques
β’ Some experience with cloud data storage technologies (Azure), analytics tools, data architecture patterns, and data governance concepts
β’ Experience in the full software delivery lifecycle, including data analysis, process mapping, business requirements, solution design, functional/technical specifications, coding, source code management, test plans, and go-live release notes
β’ Familiarity with Agile and DevOps concepts and tools
β’ Strong analytical, critical thinking, and influencing skills
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience (Preferences):
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Information Management, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a similar field
β’ 5-10 years as a Data Engineer
β’ Expertise and hands-on experience working with complex and large data sets in a multi-system and technology environment
β’ Python skills
