Role description
The Company Associate Staffing is supporting a leading energy company in their search for two Data Engineers – Power BI to join their IT Design & Enterprise Systems team in Richmond, VA. Length of Assignment: 1 year based on performance and project need Schedule: Monday–Friday, EST hours (flexible compressed 9’s); hybrid (onsite every other week) or fully remote if outside Richmond. What You Will Be Doing As a Data Engineer – Power BI, you will operate independently on complex projects across all phases of application systems analysis and development. You will collaborate across teams to design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI and Snowflake. This role requires strong technical skills, communication, and experience with business intelligence and data engineering technologies. Responsibilities Include • Design and develop dashboards and reports using Power BI and Snowflake data hub. • Work on web services and REST APIs. • Formulate system scope and objectives based on user needs. • Develop procedures to solve complex challenges, considering IT systems, operational timeframes, and outcomes. • Work with multiple business units across multi-platform environments. • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives. • Assist in planning, design, and development of new analytic and data science applications. • Create systems models, specifications, diagrams, and charts. • Perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews. • Provide orientation and training for end users. • Document standards and procedures for analytic platforms. • Develop test cases and validate test results. – Mentor less experienced team members. Qualifications Required Skills: • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, specifically Power Apps and Power Automate. • Knowledge of ERP tables. Strong background working on web services / REST APIs. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work independently and implement solutions with minimal guidance. Preferred Experience • Minimum of 5 years as a systems analyst in Data Analytics, Data Warehousing, and Data Science projects. • Minimum 5 years of experience in SQL, crafting complex queries. • Minimum 5 years designing DataMarts with Dimensional Modeling. • At least 3 years designing and developing Power BI dashboards. • Experience in regulated industries, preferably utilities infrastructure. Education • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
