Role description
Job Title: Data Engineer Location: Hybrid – open nationally, preference for proximity to a hub Contract Duration: 12 months (potential for extension or conversion) About the Role We are seeking a Data Engineer to support our Fortune 500 Healthcare client's Collaboration Technology Service (CTS) Group. This role will focus on building out analytics and reporting solutions tied to enterprise collaboration platforms (Teams, WebEx, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Jira) and the adoption of Microsoft Copilot. You will work closely with members of the CTS team and business stakeholders to design dashboards, manage data pipelines, and translate usage metrics into actionable insights that help guide executive decision-making. Key Responsibilities β€’ Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards to measure usage and success metrics for Microsoft Copilot and collaboration technologies β€’ Develop and optimize data models, schemas, and pipelines in SQL/Postgres β€’ Collect, clean, and structure data from multiple collaboration platforms (Teams, WebEx, SharePoint, OneDrive, Jira, etc.) β€’ Define and track KPIs such as Copilot usage, adoption patterns, prompt frequency, and ROI indicators β€’ Integrate data sources through APIs and other ETL methods for seamless reporting β€’ Collaborate with engineers and business analysts to turn raw usage data into actionable insights for directors and executives β€’ Work independently with minimal supervision, managing end-to-end reporting deliverables β€’ Leverage Microsoft Viva Insights data to build advanced analytics and reporting solutions, transforming large datasets into actionable dashboards in Power BI. Required Skills & Experience β€’ Strong hands-on experience with Power BI (dashboard creation, DAX, KPI definition, and data visualization best practices) β€’ Proficiency with SQL (Postgres preferred) – schema design, data modeling, query optimization β€’ Experience integrating and transforming data from multiple sources (APIs, collaboration tools, databases) β€’ Ability to work autonomously and deliver on assigned projects without heavy oversight β€’ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate data into business value β€’ Experience working with Microsoft Viva Insights data and developing reports/dashboards in Power BI. Preferred Skills β€’ Familiarity with collaboration platforms such as Teams, WebEx, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Jira β€’ Experience with additional BI tools (Tableau, etc.) β€’ Exposure to scripting/programming languages (Python, PowerShell, etc.) for data manipulation β€’ Cloud experience (AWS or Azure) – nice to have β€’ Prior experience defining metrics for AI/automation adoption success is a plus
