Role description
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate – Data Engineering to design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions in a cloud-based Azure environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, SQL Server, and Azure Data Factory (ADF), with a proven background in SQL performance optimization, database administration, and ETL/ELT development. Healthcare industry experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Manage, monitor, and optimize SQL Server environments, including performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, and database maintenance.
• Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data transformations.
• Troubleshoot production data issues and ensure data integrity, reliability, and availability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.
• Implement database best practices, including backup and recovery, security, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
• Document technical solutions, data workflows, and operational processes.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Database Engineering, or a related role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services.
• Extensive experience with SQL Server, including:
• SQL performance tuning and optimization
• Query troubleshooting and execution plan analysis
• Database administration and maintenance
• Indexing strategies and performance monitoring
• Experience building, scheduling, and maintaining Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines and jobs.
• Strong SQL development skills with experience working on large-scale datasets.
• Solid understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data integration best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
