Role description
We are looking for a Trade Surveillance Implementation & Data Engineer to design, integrate, and optimize surveillance capabilities within a capital markets environment. This role requires deep hands-on experience with trade surveillance platforms, complex trading and order lifecycle data, and the engineering of scalable data transformation pipelines. The ideal candidate has a strong background in vendor surveillance system implementation, combined with solid technical expertise in Python, Java, and ETL frameworks. • This role is open to candidates who are officially authorized to work in the USA Qualifications • 6–9 years of experience in capital markets technology, with a focus on securities and commodities trading data. • Hands-on experience working with trade surveillance systems (e.g., NICE Actimize, Nasdaq Smarts, Trading Hub). • Strong understanding of trading and order lifecycle data, including market, execution, and transaction flows. • Proven experience in ETL development, data integration, and high-volume data transformation. • Proficiency in Python and Java for data engineering and system integration work. • Experience implementing or configuring surveillance rules, models, or alert logic within vendor platforms. • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, distributed team environment. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and attention to detail. Responsibilities • Lead the implementation, configuration, and enhancement of trade surveillance solutions aligned with regulatory and operational needs. • Integrate vendor surveillance platforms with internal trading, order management, and reference data systems. • Design and develop ETL pipelines for large-scale securities and commodities trading datasets. • Build and optimize data transformations to support alerts, analytics, and surveillance model calibration. • Work closely with compliance, technology, and business teams to translate surveillance requirements into technical solutions. • Troubleshoot data quality issues, integration challenges, and performance bottlenecks across the surveillance ecosystem. • Develop clean, maintainable code and engineering tools using Python and Java, following best practices and governance standards. • Support the full lifecycle of surveillance enhancements from requirements gathering to deployment and validation.
