Job Description Data Governance Lead Start: ASAP Duration: initial 3-months Location: Milton Keynes (ad hoc travel) Pay: £500-535 p/day (inside IR35) We are seeking a Data Governance Lead with strong, hands-on experience in data ownership, stewardship, and quality management to support a major programme within a leading financial services organisation. Key Responsibilities • Act as a subject matter expert in data governance, with a proven ability to manage data quality, metadata, and data stewardship activities. • Drive project and programme delivery, including the creation and maintenance of detailed project plans, milestones, and delivery timelines, aligned with regulatory and governance requirements. • Proactively identify and mitigate delivery risks, particularly those impacting compliance and data quality. • Coordinate effectively between data teams, IT, business units, and compliance functions to ensure alignment and smooth execution. • Deliver regular, well-articulated updates and reports to stakeholders, senior management, and steering committees. • Lead change management initiatives to embed governance practices and ensure organisational adoption of tools and frameworks. • Provide hands-on support or oversight in the use and/or implementation of data governance tools such as Collibra, Informatica DQ, or Alation. • Maintain awareness of relevant regulatory standards (e.g. FCA, GDPR, ECB) and ensure data governance practices support compliance. • Champion data literacy across the organisation by promoting clear understanding of governance principles to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Requirements • Demonstrable experience in data governance, particularly within the financial services sector. • Strong understanding of UK and European regulatory environments related to data. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex data topics in a clear and engaging manner. • Prior experience driving organisational change and embedding data governance tools and frameworks
