Data Migration Design Lead

Title: Data Migration Design Lead Type: Day-rate Contract Rate: Competitive (outside IR35) Length: 3/4-months contract Contact: Thomas.price@forsythbarnes.com Overview We are looking for an experienced Data Migration Design Lead to take ownership of the end-to-end migration design for a high-profile ERP transformation programme. The business is migrating from Oracle to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, moving from an enterprise-scale platform to a small/medium ERP solution. Candidates with experience delivering Enterprise-to-SME ERP migrations will be particularly well suited and will stand out. This is a design-led role. You will define the data migration strategy, architecture, and ETL approach while working alongside 3–4 Informatica Data Engineers who will execute the hands-on engineering. Key Responsibilities • Take the detailed analysis produced by the Business Analyst and validate requirements • Agree and document source systems and data sources for migration • Design the end-to-end data migration process and framework • Architect and design scalable ETL pipelines • Define and document transformation logic across complex datasets • Establish and implement surrogate key strategies • Design data mapping, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation processes • Provide technical direction and oversight to 3–4 Informatica Data Engineers delivering the build • Ensure data integrity, governance, and best practice throughout the migration lifecycle Required Experience • Proven experience leading data migration design within ERP transformation programmes • Strong data architecture background • Deep understanding of ETL pipeline design and transformation logic • Experience defining and implementing surrogate key strategies • Experience working closely with BAs to translate functional analysis into technical design • Experience overseeing engineering teams (without being hands-on build focused) Highly Desirable • Experience migrating from Oracle to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central • Experience moving from enterprise platforms to SME ERP environments • Prior involvement in complex ERP data consolidation or rationalisation programmes • Informatica exposure (design/oversight level)
