Role Overview The role of Data Migration Engineer is to support the successful migration of data across systems and platforms. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing data migration processes, ensuring data integrity, quality, and security throughout the lifecycle of the project
Key responsibilities:
Design and implement data migration strategies tailored to project requirements, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum data integrity
Analyse source and target systems to understand data structures, relationships, and dependencies.
Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) scripts and workflows to support data migration activities.
Perform data mapping, transformation, cleansing, and validation tasks.
Collaborate with business analysts, data owners, and developers to ensure accurate and complete data migration.
Conduct unit testing, system integration testing, and support user acceptance testing (UAT).
Design, build and perform reconciliation checks to ensure accuracy of data migration
Monitor and troubleshoot data migration issues, ensuring timely resolution.
Document migration processes, data dictionaries, and technical specifications.
Ensure high standards of data quality during the migration process
Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards.
More about you
• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English (Grades A
• - C)
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field
Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Gen 2, Azure Synapse Analytics)
Knowledge of data modeling and database design
Exposure to Agile or DevOps environments
Experience with ERP or CRM data migrations (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, Dynamics 365)
Advanced SQL skills, including experience with structured and unstructured data
Experience working with relational databases
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python)
Understanding of data quality principles and data governance frameworks
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in the social housing or public sector
Experience with platforms like SharePoint, Documentum, or other enterprise content management (ECM) systems
Experience with migration tools (e.g., ShareGate, CloudM, Mover.io, AWS DataSync)
