The role requires strong experience with Erwin Data Modeler or similar tools, deep knowledge of insurance data processes, and the ability to work closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure data integrity, scalability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Data Modeling & Design

β’ Build and maintain enterprise data models aligned with insurance industry standards (e.g., ACORD).
β’ Define data dictionaries, metadata, and relationships to support data governance and consistency.
β’ Ensure data models are optimized for both transactional (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) systems.
Insurance Domain Expertise
β’ Translate business requirements from claims, policy administration, underwriting, actuarial, and finance teams into scalable data solutions.
β’ Support regulatory and compliance reporting requirements (e.g., IRDAI, IFRS, Solvency II).
β’ Ensure models capture core insurance processes such as claims intake, adjudication, settlement, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
β’ Partner with business analysts, data architects, and developers to deliver insurance-specific data solutions.
β’ Work with data warehouse, ETL, and BI teams to ensure seamless integration of insurance data.
β’ Collaborate with actuaries, claims specialists, and policy teams to validate data definitions and usage.
Governance & Standards
β’ Enforce data governance and quality standards across insurance systems.
β’ Document business rules, lineage, and data definitions for core insurance entities.
β’ Conduct impact analysis for changes in insurance processes and data flows.
Qualifications
Experience
β’ 6+ years of experience as a Data Modeler or Data Architect, preferably in the insurance industry.
β’ Strong hands-on experience with Erwin Data Modeler (or equivalent data modeling tools).
β’ Proven expertise in modeling insurance data entities such as Policy, Customer, Premiums, Claims, Payments, Underwriting, Reinsurance, and Agents/Brokers.
β’ Experience working with data warehouses, data lakes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Skills
β’ Strong knowledge of insurance domain data flows and regulatory needs.
β’ Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical modeling.
β’ Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and validation.
β’ Familiarity with insurance standards (e.g., ACORD, ISO) is a plus.
β’ Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and lineage tracking.
Education
β’ Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
Preferred Certifications (not mandatory)
β’ Erwin Data Modeler Certification.
β’ Insurance certifications (e.g., AINS, CPCU) are highly desirable.
β’ Data management certifications (e.g., CDMP).
