Position: Data Modeler
Location: Reston, VA
Duration: 12+ Months (possible extension)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler with strong expertise in data warehousing and relational/dimensional modeling. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with data modeling tools, support Agile development processes, and act as a key liaison between business, development, and testing teams. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, and the ability to document and translate complex requirements into structured data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Capture, analyze, and document data modeling requirements to support business and technical initiatives.
• Design and implement relational and dimensional data models to support enterprise databases and reporting solutions.
• Serve as the point of contact (POC) for development and testing teams, ensuring smooth communication and knowledge transfer.
• Support Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.).
• Ensure adherence to data governance standards and best practices.
• Work extensively with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) for documentation, reporting, and analysis.
• Utilize ER Studio (or equivalent data modeling tools) for creating and maintaining data models.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, OR equivalent work experience.
• 5–10 years of experience in software development or data-related projects of similar scope and complexity.
• Proven experience in relational and dimensional modeling.
• Hands-on experience with ER Studio (or equivalent modeling tool).
• Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and data governance frameworks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and related tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience working with Mortgage or Financial Industry.
• Exposure to large-scale enterprise data environments and regulatory/compliance-driven projects.
