Role description
Role - Senior Data Modeler Location - Remote (EST preferred) Hire - Contract Must have : Solid Data Modeling exp Databricks Exp in Healthcare (Preferred) Job Description: This role will focus on designing, optimizing, and implementing data models as the organization transitions its enterprise data to the Databricks Lakehouse platform. The ideal candidate will have strong data modeling expertise, healthcare domain knowledge, and experience in modern cloud-based data platforms. Key Responsibilities β€’ Collaborate with business analysts, data architects, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into logical and physical data models. β€’ Design scalable, flexible, and performance-optimized data models to support analytics, reporting, and machine learning workloads on Databricks. β€’ Map and migrate legacy data structures (from EHR, EMR, billing, and operational systems) to the Databricks Lakehouse environment. β€’ Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare data privacy regulations in data model design. (Good to have) β€’ Define and maintain data dictionaries, entity-relationship diagrams, and metadata documentation. β€’ Work with ETL/ELT developers to ensure models are implemented effectively and aligned with data ingestion and transformation pipelines. β€’ Partner with data governance teams to enforce data quality, standardization, and stewardship best practices. β€’ Optimize models for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured healthcare data (e.g., HL7, FHIR, claims data, imaging metadata). Qualifications β€’ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. β€’ 8+ years of experience in data modeling, with at least 4 years in cloud or lakehouse environments (preferably Databricks, Snowflake, or Azure Synapse). β€’ Good to have the experience with healthcare data structures (EHR/EMR, HL7, FHIR, claims data, patient records). β€’ Proficiency in SQL, data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, ER/Studio), and dimensional modeling (Kimball, Data Vault, 3NF etc). β€’ Hands-on experience in Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Spark SQL). β€’ Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and BI/reporting needs in healthcare. β€’ Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally in a clinical environment. Knowledge of healthcare data compliance (HIPAA, HITRUST) and security best practices would be an added advantage
