Role description
About AXA
AXA is a global leader in insurance and financial services, dedicated to helping customers protect what matters most to them. As the sixth-largest insurance company in the world, we provide a wide range of services, including health, car, home, and business insurance. We support millions of customers worldwide, helping them navigate life's uncertainties with confidence.
AXA Retail helps people get back to the good stuff with quick, fuss-free home and car insurance and brilliant customer service.
Job Overview
We're seeking a detail-oriented Data Modeller to join our team. You'll be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining scalable, high-quality data models using Databricks, Python, and GIT. Your focus will be on creating optimised datasets and data structures that underpin reporting and analytics across the Data Insights landscape. By combining technical expertise with strong storytelling skills, you'll deliver accurate, timely and well-structured data insights that support both operational and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop and optimise data models and pipelines in Databricks using Python to support business reporting needs.
β’ Collaborate with Data and Visualisation Analysts to ensure models are structured for effective reporting and insights.
β’ Ensure data models and processes follow technical standards, coding best practices, validation and version control.
β’ Manage work using DevOps tools and GIT for version control and change management.
β’ Develop expertise in insurance-specific data, including Claims, Performance, Operations and Risk metrics.
β’ Deliver data models and datasets on time to support reporting and analytics initiatives.
β’ Work independently and with teams to produce high-quality, reliable data solutions.
β’ Engage with stakeholders to clarify requirements, provide updates and communicate technical concepts clearly.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events.
Your Skills & Experience
β’ Knowledge of Python and GIT version control, with experience on cloud data platforms such as Azure and Databricks.
β’ Proficient in designing and developing scalable data models and datasets for reporting and analytics.
β’ Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and tell compelling stories through insights.
β’ Time management and organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
β’ Effective communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Collaborative team player with experience working with Data Analysts and other data professionals.
β’ An understanding of insurance business operations, metrics, and reporting requirements.
β’ A proactive approach to learning new technologies, techniques, and industry developments in data modelling and analytics.
