Major Purpose:
Collaborate with business and analytics leaders to generate insights and answer business questions using techniques such as:
• Advanced data visualization
• Statistical analysis
• Randomized testing
• Predictive modeling
• Forecasting
• Optimization
• Machine learning
You’ll propose innovative approaches using enterprise and third-party data, validate findings through experimentation, and perform basic statistical analysis on moderately complex data.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze datasets using appropriate methodologies to provide insights and decision models
• Create and implement algorithms for efficient data analysis
• Communicate insights using effective visualization techniques
• Identify required data sources and collaborate with Data Wranglers/IT
• Stay current with analytical techniques and explain their business relevance
• Discover patterns and insights valuable to the business
Required Skills & Knowledge:
• Quantitative analytical skills
• Industry knowledge
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Business process understanding
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and data gathering techniques
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in:
• Mathematics
• Economics
• Statistics
Experience:
• 1–3 years in industry-specific roles
• 1–3 years in data analytics
• Experience mining data for insights
• Familiarity with tools like SAS, Statistica, SPSS, or SAS E Miner
Role-Specific Responsibilities at John Deere ISG:
• Communicate findings and methodologies to diverse stakeholders
• Work with high-resolution machine and agronomic data
• Develop production-ready ML models for precision agriculture
• Define and analyze KPIs for customer outcomes
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to ensure efficient data storage
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in Python or other object-oriented programming languages
• Experience with SQL, Spark, Databricks
• Visualization tools: Tableau, Kepler.gl
• Data modeling and quality assessment
• Machine learning: regression, supervised/unsupervised learning, NLP
Preferred Qualifications:
• Geospatial data analysis and geo-indexing
• Remote sensing, GIS, satellite imagery
• Computer Vision and Machine Learning (CVML)
• Advanced AI techniques
• Portfolio of work (publications, patents, projects)
• Familiarity with distributed datasets and various data structures
• Additional languages: Java, JavaScript, Scala
• Simulation techniques: Monte Carlo, Gibbs sampling
