Role description
Data Scientist Contractor (3-Month Project | Remote | Global Clients) We’re looking for a Data Scientist Contractor to join us for an initial 3-month project. Our clients span industries worldwide, and while we’re UK-based, this role is fully remote. We are a product company — not an agency or consultancy. While our platform is product-led, our client onboarding requires bespoke modelling work. That’s where you come in. About Us Resolve is an enterprise pricing management platform that helps businesses turn complex rules into optimized price recommendations. Powered by a Python constraint-optimization engine (cvxpy), our stack combines a FastAPI backend, PostgreSQL, and a React/TypeScript front end, all deployed on AWS with infrastructure-as-code (SST). Our clients use Resolve to: • Implement rules-based pricing • Calculate price elasticity • Run scenario analysis • Manage pricing across large product portfolios 🔍 What You’ll Do • Solve sales, marketing, and demand analytics problems with commercial impact. • Own client relationships, presenting insights directly to senior decision makers. • Apply behavioral economic modelling and causal inference to real-world problems. • Generate hypotheses and surface opportunities through stakeholder workshops, customer interviews, and field research. • Write production-ready Python and SQL code. • Build and deploy using modern tooling — we’re big on clean, fast frameworks (e.g. FastAPI, modern data stacks). ✅ What We’re Looking For • Strong background in statistics, econometrics, or causal analysis. • Experience navigating messy, real-world datasets. • Comfort presenting directly to stakeholders and driving the insight-to-action loop. • Curiosity for behavioral economics and how it applies to business. • Strong commercial grounding and mathematical intuition. • Bonus: experience in retail, B2B, or wholesale. • Bonus: background in operational research or econometrics. 💡 What We’re Not Focused On • LLM/GPT-heavy work — our focus is on causal AI, econometrics, and operational research, not pure language model development. This role is ideal if you want to: • Work in a product company (not a client-service agency). • Own projects end-to-end, from messy data to boardroom insight. • Experiment with and apply modern frameworks and tooling.
