Role description
Data Scientist – Databricks / PySpark Work Location: Remote / Telecommute Work Hours: Estimated 8 hours/day with flexible scheduling (e.g., 9 AM – 5 PM EST, but not strictly enforced). Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist with strong expertise in Databricks and PySpark to develop and deploy scalable, data-driven solutions that drive business growth and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve real-world business problems using modern data science and engineering tools. Business Impact: The Data Scientist – Databricks / PySpark will: • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and ML models. • Improve data quality through cleansing and feature engineering. • Provide actionable business insights to support strategic decision-making. • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to prioritize and deliver high-impact projects. Team Environment: Join a collaborative, agile team of 8–10 data scientists and engineers with skills across: • Data Engineering: Databricks, PySpark, SQL • Machine Learning: Python, R, TensorFlow, PyTorch • Data Visualization: Tableau, Power BI • Business Acumen: Focused on healthcare and operations • Team culture is dynamic, collaborative, and results-oriented. Key Responsibilities: 1. Develop and deploy scalable data pipelines using Databricks and PySpark. 1. Design and implement ML models using Python and libraries like Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, etc. 1. Perform data cleansing, preprocessing, and feature engineering. 1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and solve business problems. 1. Work with stakeholders to prioritize and execute data science initiatives. 1. Develop and maintain technical documentation for pipelines and models. 1. Build dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights. 1. Stay current with trends in data science, ML, and big data technologies. 1. Collaborate with data engineers to ensure data integrity and pipeline efficiency. 1. Participate in code reviews and contribute to team best practices. Ideal Candidate Profile: • 5+ years in data science or a related field. • Healthcare industry experience is a plus but not required. • Strong experience in: • Data engineering (Databricks, PySpark, SQL) • Machine learning (Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.) Required Skills: • 3+ years working with Databricks and PySpark • 2+ years using Python and ML libraries (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow) • 2+ years working with SQL and data warehousing • Strong knowledge of data cleansing and feature engineering • Proven experience developing and deploying ML models • Excellent collaboration and communication skills Preferred Skills: • Experience with cloud platforms (especially Azure) • Familiarity with Agile development practices Certifications such as: • Certified Data Scientist • Certified Analytics Professional Dexian is a leading provider of staffing, IT, and workforce solutions with over 12,000 employees and 70 locations worldwide.
