Role description
Data Scientist Onsite in Raleigh, NC 3 days a week Summary We are seeking a hands on Data Scientist for a contract engagement with expectation to continue further pending budget to develop analytics and machine learning solutions using large, complex datasets. The role will focus on data analysis, feature engineering, and model development, working closely with engineering and product teams to deliver practical, production ready insights. Experience working with utility or energy data(electric, gas, water, AMI, IoT, or timeseries data) is a strong plus. If not Utility experience, experience with Demography is also very beneficial and preferred. Key Objectives ● Analyze large datasets to uncover patterns, trends, and anomalies. ● Develop and validate statistical and machine learning models. ● Deliver insights and models that directly support product, operational, or engineering decisions. ● Collaborate with engineers to support deployment or operationalization of models. Working with Senior PHD level lead Data Scientist to realize models and take direction. ● Produce clear documentation and knowledge transfer for internal teams. Core Responsibilities ● Perform data exploration, cleaning, and feature engineering. Build and evaluate models(e.g., regression, classification, clustering, anomaly detection, timeseries). ● Design and analyze experiments where appropriate. ● Translate business or operational problems into analytical solutions. ● Communicate findings to technical and nontechnical stakeholders. ● Follow disciplined development practices (version control, documentation, reproducibility). Required Skills & Experience ● Strong experience in data science or advanced analytics roles. ● Proficiency in Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit learn or equivalent). ● Solid understanding of statistics and machine learning fundamentals. ● Experience working with SQL and structured datasets. ● Ability to work independently and become productive quickly in a CSW environment. Preferred Experience ● Utility, energy, or industrial data (electric, gas, water, AMI, IoT). Or Demography experience ● Time series data and anomaly detection. ● Bigdata or analytics platforms (e.g., Spark, Databricks, cloud data platforms). ● Experience supporting models in production or near production environments.
