Job Description: Medicaid Data Scientist
Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical expertise in the development and enhancement of analytical reports and dashboards.
• Evaluate and recommend modern tools and technologies for data reporting and analysis.
• Develop scalable, organization-wide dashboards and reporting solutions.
• Perform advanced analysis using Medicaid claims and clinical data to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
• Collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams to produce required reports for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other external entities.
• Identify gaps in current data systems, reporting processes, and analytics solutions and recommend improvements.
• Review reports generated by external entities to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with DOM standards.
• Support organizational data literacy initiatives by educating users about available data resources and potential use cases.
• Provide data and analytics expertise in agency projects.
• Evaluate project opportunities, risks, and impacts across the organization.
• Manage deliverables and reporting timelines to ensure project deadlines are met.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
Candidates must meet all minimum requirements to be considered.
• 7+ years of experience working as a Data Scientist on IT projects
• 3+ years of experience working with Medicaid programs, including:
• Developing organizational data strategy
• Improving data quality
• Reinforcing data integrity
• 3+ years of experience developing reports and dashboards using tools such as:
• R (R Project for Statistical Computing)
• Microsoft Power BI
• Other reporting and analytics tools
• 3+ years of experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• 3+ years of experience presenting, communicating, and teaching technical and non-technical project members
• 3+ years of experience managing workloads and meeting critical IT project deadlines
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
• 3+ years of experience in Healthcare IT projects
• 3+ years of experience with Medicaid or Healthcare payer systems
• Experience working with healthcare data such as claims, clinical, or payer data
