Role description
Data Scientist - Hybrid (Vienna, VA or Pensacola, FL) As a Data Scientist, you will leverage your analytical expertise to transform member, financial, and organizational data into actionable insights that support mission-critical decision making across the organization. You'll identify opportunities for new products, services, and process optimization through cutting-edge data science techniques. In this role, you'll create descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models that drive meaningful impact while working with increasing independence and applying your professional judgment. Responsibilities β€’ Design, develop, and evaluate moderately complex predictive models and advanced algorithms β€’ Identify meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources β€’ Test hypotheses/models, analyze, and interpret results β€’ Exercise sound judgment and discretion within defined procedures and practices β€’ Develop and code moderately complex software programs, algorithms, and automated processes β€’ Use modeling and trend analysis to analyze data and provide insights β€’ Develop understanding of best practices and ethical AI β€’ Transform data into charts, tables, or formats that aid effective decision making β€’ Build working relationships with team members and subject matter experts β€’ Lead small projects and initiatives β€’ Utilize effective written and verbal communication to document and present findings of analyses to a diverse audience of stakeholders Qualifications β€’ 3-5 years of experience in exploratory data analysis β€’ Basic understanding of business and operating environment β€’ Strong foundation in statistics β€’ Experience with programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics β€’ Proficiency in one or more of: SQL, R, Python, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, Scala, AWS β€’ Experience with model lifecycle execution β€’ Technical writing ability β€’ Data storytelling and technical presentation skills β€’ Research skills β€’ Strong interpersonal skills β€’ Working knowledge of procedures, instructions, and validation techniques β€’ Model development experience β€’ Excellent communication skills β€’ Critical thinking abilities β€’ Collaborative approach and relationship-building skills β€’ Initiative with sound judgment β€’ Technical expertise (Big Data Analysis, Coding, Project Management, Technical Writing) β€’ Problem-solving abilities β€’ Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar quantitative fields β€’ Desired: Master's/PhD Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering
