We’re on the lookout for a skilled Data Scientist to join our team in Urbandale. This opportunity could be the next exciting step in your advanced analytics career! Position Overview: As a Data Scientist, you’ll leverage petabyte-scale datasets to build advanced analytics and models supporting intelligent, automated equipment and improved decisions for farmers globally. You’ll partner with product managers and data engineers to deliver full stack data science solutions that make a measurable impact. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Communicate findings and methodologies clearly to stakeholders of varying backgrounds β€’ Develop and test predictive models using high-resolution machine and agronomic data β€’ Deliver production-ready machine learning approaches to yield insights and recommendations from precision agriculture data β€’ Define, quantify, and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for successful customer outcomes β€’ Work closely with data engineering teams to ensure efficient data storage and support for required analytics Relevant Skills: β€’ Strong competency in developing production-ready models in an object-oriented programming language such as Python β€’ Experience using data-access technologies like SQL, Spark, Databricks, etc. β€’ Proficiency with visualization tools such as Tableau, Kepler.gl, etc. β€’ Experience with data modeling techniques (normalization, quality/coverage assessment, attribute analysis, performance management, etc.) β€’ Experience building machine learning models (regression, supervised/unsupervised learning, probabilistic inference, natural language modeling, etc.) β€’ Excellent communication skills: effective meeting leadership, reproducible documentation, persuasive writing, communicating proof-of-concepts, attentive note-taking What Makes You Stand Out: β€’ Experience with geospatial data search and analysis, geo-indexing, vector/raster data structures β€’ Experience with remote sensing, GIS tools, and satellite imagery analysis β€’ Experience with computer vision and machine learning (CVML) β€’ Experience with advanced AI techniques and tools β€’ Examples of professional work (publications, patents, portfolio of relevant projects, etc.) β€’ Familiarity with distributed datasets β€’ Experience with a variety of data types (time-series, geo-tagged, text, structured, unstructured) β€’ Knowledge of additional languages (Java, JavaScript, Scala, etc.) β€’ Experience with simulations (Monte Carlo, Gibbs sampling, etc.) β€’ Skills in model validation, measuring model bias and drift β€’ Experience collaborating with stakeholders in Product, Sales, Finance, etc. β€’ Ability to explain complex analytics insights in accessible, nontechnical terms
