Job#: 3023027 Job Description: Data Scientist Location: Columbus, Ohio (Onsite) Employment Type: Contract Role Overview An opportunity is available for a Data Scientist to join a growing Enterprise Data and Analytics team. This role involves leveraging machine learning, segmentation, and statistical inference on large data sets to discover business insights. The position supports senior leadership with insights, management reports, and analysis for decision-making by modeling complex business problems and using statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques. Key Responsibilities • Performs advanced analytics methods to extract value from business data. • Performs large-scale experimentation and builds data-driven models to answer business questions. • Conducts research on techniques and tools in machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence. • Determines requirements that will be used to train and evolve deep learning models and algorithms. • Articulates a vision and roadmap for the exploitation of data as a valued corporate asset. • Influences product teams through the presentation of data-based recommendations. • Owns the entire model development process, from identifying business requirements and data sourcing to model fitting, presenting results, and production scoring. Required Qualifications Education: A Master's degree in Decision Sciences, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Operations Research, or a STEM degree is required. In lieu of a Master's degree, a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in analytics or data science is acceptable. Experience: A minimum of 3 years of work experience in analytics or data science is required for candidates with a Master's degree. If a candidate has a PhD, no work experience is required. Experience should include using statistics and machine learning to solve complex business problems, conducting statistical analysis with advanced software, building and deploying predictive models, and working with scalable data pipelines. Technical Skills: Direct experience with SQL programming and large database applications such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, SPSS, Teradata, and Hadoop is required. Experience with R/RStudio, Python, SAS, and NoSQL is also necessary, along with experience in Cloud Machine Learning technologies (e.g., AWS Sagemaker) and machine learning environments (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn, caret). A strong understanding of statistical methods and skills such as Bayesian Networks Inference, linear and non-linear regression, and hierarchical mixed models is expected.
