Position Overview
β’ We are seeking a Data Scientist with expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and image processing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with imagery (such as remote sensing or plant phenotyping imaging) and will apply advanced ML/DL techniques to develop predictive models that support CLIENTβs agricultural operations.
β’ This role involves collaboration with scientists across disciplines, as well as IT and engineering teams, to deliver data-driven insights and solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Data Science
β’ Apply image analysis, statistical analysis, and ML/DL models to analyze complex imagery data.
β’ Develop actionable insights that support agricultural decision-making.
β’ Write detailed model documentation covering problem formulation, modeling approach, validation methods, data requirements, and implementation.
β’ Follow best practices in data science, including peer reviews, code reviews, documentation, coding standards, and reproducibility.
β’ Collaborate and Communicate
β’ Build relationships with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to co-develop data-driven solutions.
β’ Communicate technical results clearly and effectively to non-technical audiences.
β’ Participate actively in CLIENTβs Data Science community to innovate and share knowledge.
β’ Qualifications β We Expect From You
Education & Experience
β’ PhD (or MS with 4+ years of post-MS experience) in Data Science, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Imagery, or Robotics.
β’ Imagery Experience
β’ Hands-on experience working with imagery datasets like remote sensing or phenotyping imaging.
β’ Strong familiarity with image analysis techniques; experience in plant phenotyping is a significant advantage.
β’ Machine Learning & Deep Learning
β’ Proficiency in machine learning frameworks and statistical analysis techniques.
β’ Experience with image labeling tools and applying ML/DL methods to image datasets.
β’ Cloud Computing
β’ Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, and how they are used for data processing and model deployment.
Programming Skills
β’ Expertise in Python or other high-level languages.
β’ Experience with libraries like OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
β’ Able to write clean, maintainable code and follow coding best practices, including version control using GitHub.
Soft Skills
β’ High ownership and motivation to deliver impactful analysis.
Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
