Job Title: Junior Data Scientist Location: Des Moines, IA or Las Vegas, NV – ONSITE (NEED LOCAL CANDIDATE) Note: Candidates must be willing to work onsite from Day 1. The client is open to considering both junior-level and senior-level candidates who meet the technical requirements. Position Overview Our client is seeking a Data Scientist to join a small, collaborative team focused on asset management analytics for utility operations, including gas, electric generation, distribution, renewables, pipelines, and thermal systems. This team leverages Microsoft Azure-based technologies to deliver end-to-end solutions across multiple projects. The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex business problems using data science and cloud-native tools, and is comfortable contributing across data engineering, analytics, and AI projects. Key Responsibilities β€’ Drive data-driven decision-making across the organization, leveraging Microsoft Azure as the core data and analytics platform. β€’ Support analytics projects in asset management, including: β€’ Performance analytics β€’ Fault analytics β€’ Investment optimization β€’ Predictive modeling β€’ Collaborate closely with business SMEs, data engineers, and other team members to translate operational challenges into actionable data solutions. β€’ Own project delivery from data exploration to model deployment, ensuring solutions are practical and aligned with business needs. β€’ Contribute across data engineering, data science, and AI engineering tasks as required. β€’ Participate in daily team check-ins, process improvement discussions, and ongoing learning about utility asset operations. Technical Skills β€’ 2–5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services, including: β€’ Azure Machine Learning β€’ Azure Data Factory β€’ Azure Databricks β€’ Azure DevOps β€’ Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages. β€’ Strong SQL skills with experience handling large-scale datasets. β€’ Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git) and Agile development practices. β€’ Experience with RAG-based applications, Azure Foundry, Azure Search, and Document Intelligence is a plus. β€’ Familiarity with asset management or utility industry data is preferred but not required. Soft Skills β€’ Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with team members and business stakeholders. β€’ Willingness to learn new domains and adapt to evolving project needs. β€’ Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with flexible project responsibilities.
