Data Scientist (W2 Contract)

Role: Data Scientist Remote Contract As a Data Scientist you will join a team of data scientists, AI researchers, software developers, and psychometricians who provide technical and scientific leadership for some of our most important strategic efforts companywide. You will be actively and cross-functionally involved in the entire AI/ML model development lifecycle from design to deployment. You will help design, develop, validate, operationalize, and monitor AI/ML models for our School (PreK–12) business unit, and you will collaborate closely with colleagues across functions like Product, Engineering, Learning Design, and User Experience to help McGraw Hill create and deliver world-class educational experiences. In this role you will specifically enable the development of data-driven tools to author content more efficiently. Must Have for this role: • Looking for a Data Scientist who can work with content acceleration team. • Some one with AI experience who can work with cross-functionally involved in the entire AI/ML model development lifecycle from design to deployment. • Looking for Production experience with ML, NLP, and GenAI systems. • Looking for PhD.(Preferable) And considering candidates who has Masters Degree in AI, Data Science, Statistics. • Experience with LangChain/LangSmith is nice to have. • Experience with the K–12 educational ecosystem is added advantage. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: List 4-6 of the main responsibilities of the role in order of importance. • Plan, execute, and report on projects of diverse scope independently with weekly manager check-ins. • Propose solutions to business problems by tailoring DS/AI concepts/tools/techniques. • Perform research, analysis, and modeling, and present findings to key stakeholders. • Learn how to balance multiple projects and revise project plans as circumstances change. • Collaborate with colleagues in other functions to support the creation of compelling learning experiences. Education Requirement: • Doctoral degree (or equivalent) in AI, Data Science, or related field Experience Requirement: • Doctoral degree in a relevant field, or a combination of 3+ years of professional experience and a master's degree in AI, Data Science, Statistics, or a related discipline Skills and Experience: Required: • Conceptual knowledge of DS/AI through rigorous course work and industry applications • Demonstrated ability to apply DS/AI knowledge to lead projects from start to finish • Production experience with ML, NLP, and GenAI systems • Ability to create efficient, scalable Python code • Strong technical communication and collaboration skills Preferred: • Experience with LangChain/LangSmith • Commitment to the field of education • Experience with the K–12 educational ecosystem
