Role description
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect with proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale data platforms across both AWS and Azure environments. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in modern data architectures, cloud-native services, and hybrid-cloud strategies to enable scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that support advanced analytics, AI/ML, and business intelligence initiatives. The candidate will also have strong communication skills and extensive experience interfacing with, and delivering presentations to, C-Suite level executives. Key Responsibilities Architecture & Design Develop and maintain cloud-based data architectures that leverage AWS and Azure services for data ingestion, storage, integration, governance, and analytics. Define reference architectures, standards, and best practices for multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments. Design scalable data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses to support enterprise reporting, predictive analytics, and real-time decision-making. Implementation & Integration Lead the design and deployment of ETL/ELT processes across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sources. Optimize data storage, query performance, and cost efficiency across cloud platforms. Integrate on-premise and cloud-based systems, ensuring seamless interoperability. Governance & Security Establish data quality, metadata, and master data management standards. Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies, data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA), and industry best practices. Implement role-based access controls, encryption, and monitoring solutions across cloud services. Collaboration & Leadership Partner with business stakeholders, data engineers, and application teams to translate business requirements into technical designs. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance to development teams. Stay current with emerging technologies in cloud, data management, and AI/ML. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles. Hands-on expertise with both AWS (e.g., Redshift, Glue, S3, Athena, EMR, Lake Formation) and Azure (e.g., Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Purview). Strong knowledge of data modeling, relational and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB). Proficiency with distributed data processing frameworks (Spark, Databricks). Solid understanding of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments. Experience with data governance, lineage, cataloging, and metadata management tools. Strong communication skills with ability to work across technical and business teams. Preferred Qualifications Multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architecture experience. Certification(s) such as AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer/Architect. Experience with AI/ML workflows, MLOps, and integration of data platforms with advanced analytics. Background in Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD for data solutions.
