Role Overview We are seeking a Data Scientist / Data Engineer with strong technical and investigative skills to analyze large-scale structured and unstructured datasets, identify PII, and quantify types and amounts. This role is focused on deep-diving into raw data to uncover where PII resides, how it is distributed, and what patterns emerge. The successful candidate will combine technical acumen with an investigative mindset, piecing together findings to support ongoing investigations . Key Responsibilities Use existing/Design and implement scalable data pipelines for ingesting and processing diverse data sources. Apply advanced search, statistical, and machine learning techniques to detect, extract, and categorize PII. Quantify the scope and distribution of PII across large datasets and present findings in clear, evidence-based reports. Develop tools, queries, and models to support forensic-style investigations into data sets. Correlate disparate data sources to surface patterns, anomalies, and relationships involving PII. Document methodologies and results in a structured, repeatable manner to support auditing and investigative needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., legal, auditing, analytics) to contextualize and validate findings. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 3+ years of experience in data analysis, data engineering, or investigative analytics. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and experience with large-scale data platforms (Spark, Hadoop, Databricks, or equivalent). Strong background in natural language processing (NLP), entity recognition, and data classification. Demonstrated ability to work with unstructured and messy data sources. Strong investigative and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail. Preferred: Experience with forensic data analysis or auditing.
