Role Summary
As a Consultant β Data Analytics & Risk in Legal Operations, you will bridge Legal, Engineering, and Compliance teams to deliver scalable analytics and dashboarding solutions. You'll develop SQL models and Looker dashboards, structure legal data for future AI applications, and deliver executive insights that help the company stay ahead of litigation and regulatory risk.
Key Responsibilities
Cross-Functional Collaboration
β’ Partner with Legal Ops and Engineering to design Jira instances integrating tickets from litigation, complaints, and structured/unstructured data sources.
β’ Build Looker layers and underlying SQL models to power robust, user-friendly dashboards.
β’ Develop a taxonomy to support scalable data structuring across tools.
Analytics & Dashboarding
β’ Create and maintain executive-ready dashboards tracking key legal and risk metrics (e.g., filings, causes of action, legal spend, cycle times, emerging risks).
β’ Rapidly iterate on dashboards based on stakeholder feedback from weekly/monthly business reviews.
Insight & Communication
β’ Analyze data trends and anomalies to surface risks and performance issues.
β’ Present clear, concise narratives to Legal, Finance, and external counsel.
Risk & Compliance Alignment
β’ Work closely with Compliance, Risk Management, and Legal leadership to ensure analytics align with enterprise risk frameworks and regulatory standards (e.g., Reg E, UDAAP, CFPB).
AI Readiness & Data Structuring
β’ Tag and structure unstructured legal text (pleadings, demand letters, Jira notes) to prepare datasets for NLP and predictive modelingβavoiding future rework.
Program Evaluation
β’ Define success metrics (e.g., dashboard adoption, time-to-insight).
β’ Deliver a 6-month program readout with recommendations for scaling, refinement, or automation.
Qualifications
Experience
β’ 3+ years in business intelligence, data analytics, or data science, with a strong focus on dashboard development and reporting.
β’ Proven experience writing SQL and building data models to support analytics at scale.
Technical Proficiency
β’ Hands-on experience with Looker (preferred) or Tableau for visualization and dashboarding.
β’ Familiarity with Jira or similar ticketing systems is a plus.
Knowledge Preferences
β’ Exposure to legal, litigation, compliance, or financial risk analytics (especially Reg E, CFPB, UDAAP) is advantageous but not required.
β’ Willingness to learn legal and regulatory data nuances is essential.
Communication & Project Management
β’ Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex insights for legal and business stakeholders.
β’ Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end projectsβbalancing technical detail, stakeholder alignment, and delivery timelines.
